Academics and Co-op


WUSA

Waterloo's Undergraduate Student Association as tons of information and is frequently updated to keep students in the loop.


Academic Advisors

The academic advisors are some of your best go-to's for faculty-specific advice and info on: choosing programs, course information/selection, registration procedures, graduation requirements, transferring programs, and exemptions and clarifications to academic rules.


AccessAbility Services

AccessAbility Services provides personalized academic accommodations and support services for students with disabilities including: learning strategies, adaptive technology, campus transportation, interpreters, note takers, and alternative exam arrangements. Unsure of what can be done for you? Regardless of what disability, illness, or condition, unknown or not, you can head over to the link above and apply for accommodations and AccessAbility Services will help provide the support you need.


Library

UW's Library provides all sorts of services in terms of both study spaces and academic resources/support, including workships, research guides, and help with assignments or research.


Student Success Office

The SSO helps with developing both academic and personal leadership skills. They also are the place to go when you need help as an student travelling abroad, both to and from Canada.


Waterloo Residences

The Waterloo Residences website provides information and support regarding living in residence on campus. Here, you can find info on all sorts of useful services offered to students living on residence, such as the different residence buildings, grocery shuttles, and moving in/out of residence.


Co-op resources

As a UW engineering student, you'll be searching for co-op jobs a lot of the time, and as a first year student, it can be quite daunting and intimidating. The Centre for Career Action provides advice and preparation for job searches such as help with resumes, interviews, and cover letters. For information about the co-op system and the process of it all, UW Co-operative and Experiential Education is the place to go for information about co-op timelines, job postings/boards, working abroad, and more.


The Centre

The Centre is where you'd go for most of your administrative, financial, and registrarial concerns and questions. The Centre deals with course enrolment, university forms, financial advice (e.g.OSAP, scholarships, paying/removing holds) and official documents (e.g. transcripts, proof of enrolment). However, if you have any questions in general, they can direct you to the right place for your inquiries.

International Student Resources

The International Canadian Student Network is a student-run service to make all local, international and exchange students alike feel welcome here at UW and in the Waterloo community by running events for students to explore the area and make meaningful connections with people from around the world. Again, the Student Success Office is another place to find resources for international students, such as immigration consulting, and English language support.


Safety and Parking Services


Campus Reponse Team

This student-run service provides assistance in emergency situations requiring First Aid and CPR.


Parking Services

The UW Parking Services website provides information on parking permits, bus passes, and shuttle services; and is also the place to go to pay for parking tickets should you happen to get one.


Sexual Violence Response Coordinator

Amanda Cook is the Sexual Violence Response Coordinator at UWaterloo. She support students, staff and faculty who haveexperienced or have been impacted by, sexual violence by: providing a safe space for folks to talk to her about their experience, discussing resources on- and off- campus that could provide further support, exploring potential next steps (which could include safety planning, formal and informal options, workplace and/or academic accommodations).


University of Waterloo Police Services

UW Police are on duty, on campus, 24/7. Call them at 519-888-4911 (22222 for the on campus extension) if you observe a crime in progress, have been the victim of a crime, have a concern for your safety or the safety of others, or if an injury has occurred while on campus.
